The Girl With Red Eyes

She comes to you in nightmares
That girl with Red Eyes
Neon red and glowing
And so very knowing
Round red pools of danger
Flashed at a stranger
Glowing, growling
Oh so bright red eyes
She looks so sweet
The girl with Red eyes
Someone you’d like to meet
The girl with Red Eyes
You take in the denim jacket
Short blue dress
Straight muddy-blonde hair
Lose your own sense

Of protection

In your eager
Direction, towards her
She leaves the office
With friends
Here she is now
Coming out

On to the Pavement
Just behind

The other girls
Straight hair grazing her shoulders
But is she really there?

Is she really with them?
She’s not supposed to be

After all
She slowly turns her head!
She knows you are there!
She is so aware
Then she fixes you

With her bright
Red tail light glare
And in that round red stare
Your safety net has gone
She was just stringing you along
Does she no longer walk among you?
Because of what that boy had done
Did he take away
The sun shining down on her
Real time sky?
In time recently gone by
When did she die?
That girl with Red Eyes
Was she ever alive?
The girl with Red Eyes
Is she a monster, a demon,
Or some other horror?
She was so sweet and gentle
Until they pulled her
From the lake
And the boy that did it

What happened to him?
They say he died too
Not at the same time
He did away with himself,
Could not take the rhyme
Or the rap, come to that
But the girl with Red Eyes
Wants revenge
She has a secret
To mend
The girl with Red Eyes is
Understandably,
Very angry,
She was treated so shabbily
And then left
So she goes to work still sometimes
With the rest
There have been many sightings
Of her, so many

Some say she is still alive
Or being impersonated by
Another
This girl with Red Eyes
Looking for souls
She appeals to the protective man
He’ll see her, like her and do
Just what he can
To speak to her
She is so fresh and pretty
As she walks through this
(and every other) city
Until she turns her
Swan-like neck and her
Fair, straight , sleek hair
Swings, then the man sees
He sees
Those glowing round red
Illuminated neon Red Eyes
Boring in to him
Like red hot coals
Jeering, not flirting
Her being so determined to
Capture her hapless prey
The man came all this way
To find her
From another town
But now he has seen her
For himself
He knows the talk is all true
What is he to do?
For he can feel the girl’s bright
Red eyes drawing him
Towards her
And the man realises in horror
He is trapped
Even in broad daylight, in the
Early evening sun
With traffic and people
The sound of the city

All around him
Yet he is trapped on the street
By the stare of

The girl with Red Eyes.
